LAHORE: In keeping with Sindh’s announcement, Punjab has also declared today, Tuesday, April 23, as a public holiday in Lahore to accommodate commuters and the general public during the arrival of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

On April 23, Raisi will go to Lahore, where she will meet with representatives of the Punjab administration.

According to the foreign office, Iranian President Raisi touched down in Islamabad on Monday for a three-day official visit amidst heavy security in the nation’s capital.

The visit, which the FO stated would go until Wednesday, is taking place as the two neighbors look to rebuild their relationship following this year’s extraordinary tit-for-tat attacks.

The foreign ministry said in a statement, “The Iranian president is accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation,” adding that the group also includes senior officials, other members of the cabinet, and the foreign minister.

Raisi spoke with Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, and other officials on his first day in Pakistan. He will also visit Lahore and Karachi, the statement continued.

As part of the security arrangements for Raisi’s visit, which is an important step toward normalizing relations with Islamabad, major routes in the federal capital were closed.
