The Indian foreign ministry announced on Friday that Jaishankar will travel to Pakistan to take part in the summit from October 15–16, although it did not specify if he would have side meetings with any Pakistani leaders.
Relations between the two countries have gone through phases of thaw from time to time but have been mainly frozen since they downgraded diplomatic ties in tit-for-tat steps in 2019.
Jaishankar stated earlier this year that while India would like to “find a solution to the issue of years-old cross-border terrorism,” “good neighbor” policies would not be appropriate.
“I am going there to be a good member of the SCO but since I am a courteous and civil person, I will behave myself accordingly,” he stated.
