The nation is preparing for a new wave of protests as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has said that it will go to the streets nationwide on August 5 to demand Imran Khan’s release and assistance for the poor who have been devastated by inflation.
Imran has been imprisoned for more than a year, and the former ruling party has been advocating for his release. On August 5, 2023, the removed prime minister was taken into custody in Lahore after he was found guilty of selling state gifts without authorization and given a three-year prison sentence.
PTI icon Asad Qaiser issued the protest call on Sunday during a news conference in Islamabad that was also attended by Omar Ayub Khan, the party’s secretary general, and other prominent figures.”We will hold protests on August 5, which is the PTI founder’s arrest day,” Qaiser declared, alluding to the former prime minister’s apprehension in the Toshakhana case.
