LAHORE: The Punjab government has alerted relevant authorities to the possibility of “moderate to very heavy rains” during this year’s monsoon term, as The News reported on Monday.
After a weather advisory concerning “more than normal rains” was released by the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC), the province administration took this step.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has directed all relevant agencies to remain vigilant in response to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s directions to make provisions in light of the forecast for heavy showers.
The PDMA predicted that monsoon rains would likely impact various areas of Punjab beginning in the first week of July. Rainfall in the divisions of Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala is expected to range from 15 to 55 millimeters.
