The 34-year-old Kroos was a member of the German squad that won the 2014 World Cup. and has earned Die Mannschaft 106 caps.
He had announced his retirement in July 2021, but after speaking with Germany’s head coach Julian Nagelsmann, he changed his mind.
“I’ll be returning to the field for Germany in March. Why? Since the coach asked, and I’m game,” Kroos stated in an Instagram post.
Kroos has won five Champions League winners’ medals and three titles in the Bundesliga and La Liga during his professional career.
In addition to winning the World Cup, he was a member of the German squads that advanced to the Euro 2012 semifinals and placed third in the 2010 competition.
He is qualified to be included in Nagelsmann’s team for the international matches against the Netherlands and France that take place next month.
