According to News, the directors of the taxpayer-backed lender plan to approve Paul Thwaite’s selection as Dame Alison Rose’s long-term replacement on Thursday.
\According to information obtained by News, the directors of the lender will review plans on Thursday to declare Mr. Thwaite, the company’s acting CEO, as Dame Alison Rose’s replacement, along with the company’s annual results on Friday morning.
On Wednesday, sources issued a warning, stating that the NatWest board had not yet made a final choice and that other candidates had been discussed during the selection process.
But Mr. Thwaite is thought to have performed admirably since succeeding Dame Alison in turbulent times during the debanking controversy that began with the closing of Nigel Farage’s Coutts account last summer.
Having led its commercial banking division since 2019, he was named interim chief in July and served in that capacity for a full year.
