The bout between YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson was originally scheduled for November 15 in Texas, but it had to be rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances.
At the NFL’s AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Katie Taylor, the undefeated world champion in the women’s light-welterweight division, will square off against Amanda Serrano of Puerto Rico in the co-main event.
The two fights were set to happen on July 20. Nevertheless, physicians recommended Tyson—who turns 58 later this month—to withdraw because of a recent ulcer flare-up.
“Even if the bout had to be postponed, I will soon start training again. I appreciate the medical team that took care of me,” Tyson remarked.
No matter when we fight, the outcome will remain the same, even though we have a new date. Jake Paul is about to lose consciousness.”
Paul stated on social media, “New date, same place, same fate.”
Ten two-minute rounds will comprise the Tyson-Paul bout, which will stream on Netflix. It has been formally approved as a professional fight.
Although Tyson hasn’t engaged in a professional fight since 2005, he did participate in an exhibition match in 2020.
He made history in 1987 by being the first heavyweight boxer to hold the WBA, WBC, and IBF heavyweight titles concurrently. However, his unbeaten streak ended abruptly in 1990 when Buster Douglas defeated him in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.
