The company also declared that it would separate its Wall’s, Ben & Jerry’s, and Magnum brands of ice cream.
The large food and home goods corporation announced that the spin-off will start immediately and be completed by the end of 2025.
According to Unilever, the reorganization will enable them to “do fewer things better.”.
The layoffs, which Unilever said would primarily impact office workers, account for over 5% of the company’s 128,000 global workers and are intended to save approximately €800 million (£684 million) over the course of the next three years.
6,000 people work for Unilever in the UK, where they make ice cream in northeastern Gloucestershire, Marmite, and Bovril.
