ISLAMABAD: General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has cautioned the youth against using the digital world carefully and stressed the importance of carefully examining the news there.

The counsel was given on Wednesday during the army chief’s speech at the Pakistan National Youth Conference at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad.

COAS Munir stated that “spreading negativity and chaos” in society was one of the goals of “propaganda” on social media, citing a verse from the Holy Quran concerning the verification of information.

“Without research and positive thinking, a society remains chaotic,” he stated.

The COAS expressed his happiness at meeting the young people, since they are the architects of the nation’s future.

He encouraged the youth to have faith in the nation, its culture, civilization, and themselves, saying that they are the ones who will be looking after the brilliant traditions of the country.

Additionally, he urged the children to have faith in their wonderful country and motherland.

While reiterating the army’s capacity to combat terrorists, Army Chief Gen. Munir emphasized that national collaboration is important in the fight against militancy.

The COAS declared, “Our armed forces are ever-ready to counter any kind of threat and conspiracy,” and they would never compromise on their nation’s sovereignty.

He also complimented the nation for having a youthful population, an abundance of agricultural resources, and mineral resources.

General Munir alerted the country about the “rumours” and “negative impressions” that are being spread about Pakistan in December of last year.

Social media is being exploited to instill terror, despair, and anarchy among people. In a harsh speech to the National Farmers Convention in Islamabad, the army commander attacked the anti-Pakistan elements and claimed that fake news was creating the idea that the state was losing its [writ].

He claimed that false allegations against the state of Pakistan are widely disseminated on social media.

The COAS had emphasized the country’s divine support, saying, “But you should know that only two states were established on the bases of the Kalima: the state of Madina and Pakistan.”
