For egregious misbehavior involving a group chat with a former officer in which racist, sexist, and improper remarks were sent and received, the head of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Black Police Association (MBPA) was fired.
The insulting remarks were shared in a WhatsApp conversation between former cop Carlo Francisco and Insp. Charles Ehikioya.
Because of his color or his role as MBPA chair, the officer disputed the accusations against him and said they were made up or incorrectly attributed to him.
A panel that heard testimony this week concluded that his actions constituted a violation of professional behavior norms.
Under the direction of Cdr Jason Prins, the panel concluded that Insp Ehikioya had violated principles on diversity and equality, engaged in dishonorable behavior.
