A majority of Americans oppose President Donald Trump’s latest tariffs on Canadian goods, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.
The survey also found strong opposition to Trump’s decision to rename Lake Ontario as “Lake America.” The findings come as trade tensions between the United States and Canada continue to grow.

Only 20% of respondents supported higher tariffs on Canadian goods. Meanwhile, 57% opposed the increase.
Another 21% said they were unsure or did not have an opinion.

Americans Reject Lake Ontario Name Change
The three day poll ended on Sunday.
About one in five respondents said they had not heard about the new tariffs.
The survey also asked Americans about Trump’s decision to rename Lake Ontario.
Only 14% supported the name change. Meanwhile, 63% opposed it.
Trump’s order applies to U.S. federal government usage. It does not require Canada or international organizations to use the name “Lake America.”
