Prominent human rights organizations have reiterated their demands for inquiries into the deaths of demonstrators last June when Kenyan security forces killed them during protests against a tax increase.
The people were incensed and demanded justice after an Africa Eye investigation revealed that members of the security forces had shot three demonstrators dead at Kenya’s parliament.
According to the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) and Amnesty International, the officers mentioned in the documentary ought to “face the law.”
In response, Kenya’s government spokesperson said that “every life is important,” that the police watchdog is looking into the matter, and that the news documentary was “one-sided.”
