After the deaths of three police officers were discovered in a river after going missing for six days, South African authorities are looking for answers.
Last Wednesday, 20-year-old Boipelo Senoge, 24-year-old Cebekhulu Linda, and 30-year-old Keamogetswe Buys were last observed departing a gas station close to Johannesburg.
Divers found their bodies and the remains of two other unidentified people in the Hennops River some 70 kilometers (43 miles) distant.
Initially stating that they were looking into a “possible hijacking and kidnapping” case, the police later stated on Tuesday that they were unable to determine whether the fatalities were unintentional.
