Ralph Fiennes calls the cost of West End plays “worryingly high.”

The West End's "worryingly high" ticket costs have been a source of concern for stars Ralph Fiennes and Andrew Scott.

Up to £300 per ticket is being offered for the film Plaza Suite, which stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.

The James Bond and Harry Potter star, Ralph Fiennes, advocated for lower costs on BBC One’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg.

Additionally, he demanded that the trigger warnings that alert moviegoers to potentially distressing material be eliminated.

The 61-year-old Voldermort actor claimed that “ticket prices are worryingly high at the moment, particularly in the West End”.

“We can do it (lower prices).”

20% of the tickets for his upcoming immersive Macbeth play, he continued, were priced between £15 and £20.

This month, Irish actor Scott—best known for his roles in Fleabag and Sherlock—will play the lead in Anton Chekhov’s play Vanya. He discussed ticket costs with Radio 4’s Broadcasting House. According to the 47-year-old, the problem is “a problem.”

He said it was “frustrating” because “no matter how zeitgeisty or how modern you think your play is, if you are having to spend £150 no person between the age of 16-25 or beyond is going to be able to afford that” .

Scott said that it was crucial that theater “does not remain an elitist art form” and proposed that shows offer tickets at a reduced price for specific performances.

In other remarks, Fiennes stated that plays have to “shock and disturb” and advocated for the elimination of trigger warnings in theaters.
