Following a frantic pre-election and polling process around the country, the entire country is now waiting for the results of the 2024 general elections, with high hopes for much-needed political and economic stability.

The election results are coming in from all around the country, despite a delay in the revelation of preliminary post-poll results due to many complaints about returning officers (ROs) failing to perform jobs within the specified deadline.

Lahore has its own relevance in parliamentary politics, as several political bigwigs contested Thursday’s nationwide polls from the provincial capital of Punjab, implying a strong position for one of Pakistan’s major political parties in the country’s largest province.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and independent candidates supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) faced off in a close race.

Furthermore, the newly created Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), led by Jahangir Tareen and Abdul Aleem Khan, former leaders of Imran’s party, would have to prove its mettle after fighting the polls for the first time as a new entity.
