On Thursday, the Awami National Party (ANP) rejected holding discussions with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
ANP leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain stated, “PTI leader Asad Qaiser called us. The ANP believes we were defeated in favor of the PTI. The PTI was given to the government of KP by rigging.”
“In this situation, negotiations with the PTI as a party are not suitable,” he told reporters.
“We [ANP] have announced a protest against rigging in the polls,” Hussain stated in a statement.
- The PTI has nominated Omar Ayub for the position of prime minister.
Separately, the PTI named former minister Omar Ayub as its prime ministerial candidate.
Former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser made the announcement while speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where he held a meeting with PTI Founder Imran Khan.
Asad Qaiser also hoped that the prime minister would be from the PTI, adding that the party’s mandate was stolen during the recently held elections.
