The deaths of five out of six skiers were discovered in the Swiss Alps on Sunday after they were reported missing the day before on a ski tour departing from the Alpine town of Zermatt, the BBC reported.
A huge search and rescue operation was begun on Saturday after the group, which had set out from Zermatt, went missing near the 3,706-meter-high Tete Blanche peak.
Zermatt, home to the iconic Matterhorn peak, is located near Arolla on the Swiss-Italian border.
While local officials continue to hunt for a sixth person, they have confirmed that the five skiers were discovered at 21:20 local time “without any signs of life.”
