Despite playing a critical role in Pakistan’s cricket success, great players Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan were left “unsold” after failing to attract bids at The Hundred 2024 player draft.

The development comes after both Babar and Rizwan, as well as the national team’s T20 captain Shaheen Afridi, registered for the draft at the last minute.

As many as 64 Pakistan cricketers, 59 men and five women, enrolled for the 2024 The Hundred Draft earlier this month.

The two are not the only Pakistani players who were not chosen; Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Hasan Ali, and Mohammad Amir are also on the list.

The franchises also passed over renowned international players including as Jason Roy, David Warner, Tim David, and Shakib Al Hasan.

Meanwhile, Green Shirts standout pacer Shaheen has been signed by Welse Fire for £100,000, the same side he represented last year.

Two Pakistani bowlers, Haris Rauf (Welsh Fire) and Usama Mir (Manchester Originals), were retained ahead of the draft.

Retired all-rounder Imad Wasim, who recently played a key role in Islamabad United’s victory in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 9), has returned to Trent Rockets for £100,000, while pacer Naseem Shah has been signed by Birmingham Phoenix for £125,000.
