In Rio, Atkinson defeated reigning world champion Kevin Le Cunff with an incredible ride.
“I’m pretty ecstatic to be a world champion,” he stated.
In the women’s tandem time trial, Lizzi Jordan and rookie pilot Danni Khan won the gold medal.
Khan stated: “It’s incredible, and the last few weeks have been really turbulent as we’ve both had illnesses.”
Jenny Holl and Sophie Unwin, teammates, finished second in the same competition.
In the meantime, Katie Toft won silver in the women’s C1 500m time trial after putting out a solid effort.
World Championships for Paracycling Track: Archie Atkinson, Lizzi Jordan, and Danni Khan triumph in Rio.
In the final major competition before the Paralympics in Paris in 2024, Archie Atkinson of Great Britain won gold in the men's C4 individual pursuit at the Para-cycling Track World Championships.
