These attacks hit cities all over the country including Kharkiv Zaporizhzhia Poltava Kherson Sumy and Kherson. A 61-year-old woman was killed in Kharkiv when an unmanned aerial vehicle struck a train at dawn on Tuesday. Officials confirmed that deaths also occurred in Poltava and Zaporizhzhia. The authorities described this attack as the worst in the last ten days. Targeted energy infrastructure, civilian areas and civil sectors Officials in Ukraine said that Russia had launched an array of weapons, including cruise missiles (ballistic), air-launched missiles (cruise missiles) and drones. Numerous strikes targeted civilian areas as well as the energy infrastructure. Zaporizhzhia suffered heavy damages after drones and missiles hit residential buildings. A high-rise apartment was struck by a missile, causing multiple injuries and the death of one person. Strikes in Poltava damaged residential buildings, including a hotel. At least two people were killed and several more injured. In Kherson, a civilian died after shelling hit his home. Other regions also saw injuries, such as a woman and a bus driver who were both injured in Dnipropetrovsk. Reports on air defence damage and response Ukraine's Air Force said that it had detected an attack of a massive scale involving hundreds drones and many missiles. Many incoming threats were intercepted by air defence units, however some still made it to their targets. The damage was reported to be widespread in eleven different regions. Teams of emergency workers worked all night long to put out fires and free trapped people. Moldova Reports Energy Disruption The strikes also affected Moldova. After damage was done to the energy infrastructure of Odesa, a key connection between Europe and Ukraine has been disrupted. Officials from Moldova said that alternative routes of energy supply are in place, but they warned the situation is still unstable. The disruption was blamed on Russia and they said that it threatened regional energy security. War dynamics and political tensions The Ukrainian leadership has said that the timing of these attacks is indicative of a strategy to escalate. The officials warned that large-scale strikes are now occurring regularly and often within just a few days or weeks. According to the Ukrainian President, more support for air defense is needed urgently in order to protect infrastructure and civilians. The Ukrainian president also said that distractions from global politics could reduce international attention to the war. Recent talks between Ukrainian and US officials continued, but there was no agreement reached on how to end the conflict. Both Russia and Ukraine continue to report on daily counterattacks and attacks, but frontline progress is slow.

Founded in 1276 this remarkable library existed long before the Aztec Empire even began. I find it amazing that it has been around for long. In its days books were stored in a locked chest instead of on shelves. A few people had access to it. Three key-holders had to come to unlock it. Books were not easy to replace then. Each one was written by hand, which took months to do. That made them very valuable. How the Library Began The librarys roots go back to a rule set by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the century. The college fellows had to donate books. This simple rule helped build one of the academic collections in England. I think it's cool how a simple rule led to something big. At that time libraries looked very different. There were no rows of shelves or casual browsing. Instead books were carefully. Loaned out through a formal process. The community would gather when access was needed which made reading a shared activity. People would come together to read and discuss books. A Legacy That Spans Generations Over the centuries the Merton College Library has served notable figures. Scholars from the century studied there. Later famous writer J.R.R. Tolkien also used its resources. The librarys long history even stretches across global events like the Black Death and the COVID-19 pandemic. I am amazed by its continuity. This uninterrupted use makes the Merton College Library unique. Few institutions can claim such a history. Why Its History Matters Today During the period many believed it was the oldest library in England. Some even claimed it was the oldest in the world. Today historians take a careful view. They say defining a "library" is not simple. Early collections developed in stages and not all looked like libraries. Still Mertons collection remains special. Its long survival, traditional systems and cultural impact make it stand out. Today it offers a glimpse, into how knowledge was preserved and shared in the medieval world. The Merton College Library is a treasure that continues to tell its story.

Australia Mining Fortune Case: Court Orders Gina Rinehart to Share Royalties Court ruling in long running mining dispute Australia’s richest businesswoman, Gina Rinehart, has been ordered by a court to share part of the royalties from her mining empire after a long legal battle over iron ore assets in Western Australia. The dispute has been ongoing for more than a decade and focuses on the highly profitable Hope Downs iron ore project in the Pilbara region. The court decision brings partial closure to one of Australia’s most closely watched inheritance and mining conflicts. Background of the Hope Downs dispute Rinehart inherited mining interests from her father, Lang Hancock, in 1992 and later expanded operations in Western Australia’s resource rich Pilbara region. The legal challenge was brought by the descendants of her father’s former business partner, Peter Wright, who argued that a historic agreement between the two families entitled them to a share of royalties and mining benefits from the Hope Downs project. Hope Downs is jointly run by Rio Tinto and Hancock Prospecting and generates major annual revenue from iron ore exports. Court decision on royalties and ownership The Supreme Court ruled that Hancock Prospecting must pay a portion of past and future royalties linked to the Hope Downs mine. However, the court confirmed that ownership of the mining rights remains with Rinehart’s company. The judgment split responsibility for royalties, stating that half of the disputed entitlement belongs to Wright’s family, while the remaining claims were either rejected or only partially accepted. The court also dismissed claims from two of Rinehart’s children, who argued that mining rights had been moved out of a family trust in a way that blocked their inheritance. However, some related royalty claims from another family connected to the original partnership were partially accepted. Mixed outcome for all parties The judge described the outcome as a split result, with both sides winning and losing different parts of the case. Hancock Prospecting said the ruling confirmed its ownership of Hope Downs, while Wright’s family welcomed the recognition of their royalty share. Financial impact Hope Downs remains a major income source, contributing hundreds of millions of Australian dollars annually to Hancock Prospecting through royalty arrangements linked to Rio Tinto’s operations.
