Maia Bouchier, the opener, set the tone with an incredible 91 off just 56 balls, leading England to an overwhelming 177-3.

Spinner Charlie Dean responded, taking 4-26 as the hosts collapsed to 130-7 in their 20 overs.

After failing to stump Bouchier twice and playing shoddy fielding, the White Ferns were left to lament their poor performance.

The captain, Sophie Devine, suffered a quad injury on the field, which further hampered New Zealand’s attempts to chase the challenging total.

However, after Izzy Gaze missed a standard stumping with Bouchier on 31 and Jess Kerr was unable to hang on, they shouldn’t have been pursuing such a target.

Additionally, England punished their faltering bowlers with 65 runs from the final five overs, taking advantage of New Zealand’s poor ground fielding, which allowed them to score a lot of runs.

Following Bouchier’s stroke of twelve fours and two sixes, Heather Knight, the captain, and Nat Sciver-Brunt, who scored twenty-nine from fourteen balls, provided the final burst of energy that New Zealand could never regain.
