ISLAMABAD: During a meeting with Russian Federation Ambassador Albert P. Khorev, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Russia in a number of areas, notably in energy, trade, and investment.
During the meeting between Ambassador Khorev and PM Shehbaz on Saturday, the latter asked the Russian side to send a mission to Islamabad to meet with their counterparts and find out how to strengthen the current level of trade and investment links between the two nations.
The PM emphasized that the 9th session of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC), which Russia is hosting later this year, must be called early.
Reminiscent of their encounter outside the 2022 SCO Summit in Samarkand, the prime minister extended his offer to President Vladimir Putin to visit Pakistan on official business as soon as possible.
The premier was reassured by the envoy that Russia wished to forge closer relations with Pakistan in the interim. He went on to say that Moscow was eager to expand cultural and educational collaboration.
The prime minister said that Pakistan was in sympathy with Russia during this sad time and offered his sincere condolences for the loss of innocent lives in the Crocus City Hall incident outside of Moscow during the meeting.
