Mosques including Badshahi Mosque, Data Darbar, and Masjid-e-Shuhada have carefully prepared special settings to create an atmosphere that is suitable for introspection and prayer during these 10 days.
Among these, Jami Masjid Data Darbar has welcomed more than two thousand devout participants for Itikaf, a custom that entails withdrawing oneself from the outside world starting on the 20th of Ramadan in order to search for Lailatul Qadr (Night of Majesty) and ask Allah for forgiveness by forgoing worldly affairs.
This Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) comprises praying, reciting the Quran with devotion, and sincerely asking for blessings from God. Interestingly, a considerable number of women have also joined the Itikaf City that was founded in Lahore, and special accommodations have been prepared for them.
