ISLAMABAD According to a report published in The News on Tuesday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to reduce the workload on the team’s top fast bowlers by having pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi skip a portion of the team’s five-match Twenty20 International series against New Zealand.

The article claims that discussions on the subject are still going on in order to prevent pacers from needless stress and evaluate the form and fitness of newcomers.

In the meantime, there is a greater opportunity for the fast bowlers who are returning to be part of the T20I series against the Kiwis.

Leading fast bowlers, such as Shaheen, may be rested for the first few games of the series or the entire series against the visitors, which is scheduled to start in April.

This event follows PCB’s appointment of Babar Azam to the T20I captaincy, replacing Shaheen. According to reports, the former captain was not pleased with the board’s snap decision to remove him.

The players are presently receiving fitness training at Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, and rumors within the camp indicate that Shaheen has expressed surprise at the statement the board has linked to him.

According to a remark, Shaheen felt it was important for him to back Babar in his role as captain because he was a player. Before making such a comment, he is also reported to have voiced his worries about not being taken seriously.
