Judge Nicholas Garaufis of Brooklyn Federal Court allegedly used the event from last month—in which New York City Fire Department personnel jeered state attorney general Letitia James and chanted slogans supporting former President Trump—to imply that a racist culture still exists in the news.
According to the news, Garaufis recently gave the order for the city’s Corporation Counsel, Sylvia Hinds-Radix, and Commissioner Laura Kavanagh to appear before him at a status conference to discuss the settlement in the May lawsuit filed by the Vulcan Society of Black firefighters against the world.
The president of Vulcan Society, Regina Wilson, brought up the March 8 event in which several members jeered James and screamed “Trump! Trump! Trump!” to Garaufis during the most recent status meeting on March 14.
A New York judge claims that Letitia James’s FDNY boos and pro-Trump shouts have “to do with race” rather than being about politics.
