Tsitsipas, a 25-year-old Greek player, controlled the first set and won it in less than 36 minutes.
In a thrilling second set that ended with a 4-4 tie, Norwegian Ruud fought hard until Tsitsipas drew away in the final two games.
“It’s been a very difficult time for me, so to be back on the podium and winning, it’s amazing,” he stated.
Tsitsipas collapsed to the ground in shock after winning, moving up to seventh place in the global rankings.
“I am extremely grateful to my friends, family, and everyone behind this journey,” he said. “It’s just incredible to win three titles; it was an intense game.”
For Tsitsipas, the victory marked the end of an important event; in order to get to the final, he defeated Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev, two players ranked in the top 10.
