ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police stated in a statement on Monday that Ali Nasir Rizvi, a BS 20 officer of the Pakistani police service, took over as the city’s new inspector general of police on Monday.
The Islamabad Capital Police said on X, formerly Twitter, that the recently appointed chief paid a visit to the Martyrs Memorial for Fateha before to taking office.
While the interior ministry and Punjab were still at odds over his appointment, the new Islamabad IG assumed office 22 days after his notification of appointment.
After former IG Police Akbar Nasir Khan resigned from the position on March 30, Rizvi was named. The Punjab government dismissed him of his duties, and the new Inspector General took over.Previously, he served as the deputy inspector general of operations in Lahore. He is a member of the PSP’s 31st Common Batch. Prior to this, he held positions as deputy inspector general in nine districts of Punjab, assistant superintendent of police, superintendent of police, senior superintendent of police, and chief of city police.
