When a rainy spell is predicted for April 24–29, will Karachi and Lahore receive any rain?

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a new spell of rainfall forecast for April 24–29, mostly in the upper sections of the country, which put concerned authorities on “alert.”

On April 24th, at night, a westerly wave is predicted to penetrate the western portion of the nation and likely to engulf most upper regions on April 26th. This weather system was expected to bring light to heavy rain and thunderstorms to various sections of the nation.

Balochistan
In Noushki, Pishin, Harnai, Zhob, Barkhan, Gwadar, Kech, Awaran, Chagi, Kharan, Kalat, Mastung, Jhal Magsi, Naseerabad, Sibbi, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Loralai, Qilla Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Quetta, Ziarat, Shirani, and Musa Khel, rain-wind combined with thunderstorms and isolated heavy falls were forecast for the 24th through the 27th.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
From the 25th (evening/night) to the 29th, there will be sporadic gaps in the weather in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, and Kurram. A rain-windstorm/thunderstorm (few heavy falls) with snowfall over high mountains is predicted in these areas.

During this time, hailstorms are also anticipated in few isolated areas.

Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan
In Gilgit Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar), and Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur), rain-wind/thunderstorm (a few heavy falls) with snowfall over high mountains is expected, with sporadic gaps from the 26th to the 29th.

Islamabad and Punjab
The Met predicted a few moderate to heavy falls for Lahore between the 26th and the 29th.Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan, and Sahiwal are all expected to experience rain, wind, and thunderstorm (with a few moderate to heavy falls) on the 26th and 29th (morning).
