Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Sunday that during a fierce gunfight between militants and security personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan District, two terrorists engaged in target killing and extortion were shot dead.
The security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Dera Ismail Khan today (April 28) in response to reports of terrorist activity, according to the military’s media wing.
“Three terrorists, Faheem Nawaz alias Gandapuri and Mohsin Nawaz, were successfully neutralized and sent to hell during the conduct of the operation, following an intense fire exchange between own troops and terrorists,” the ISPR said.
The military’s media wing released a brief statement saying that the terrorists who were killed had been found to have weapons, ammunition, and explosives. The terrorists had continued to carry out numerous terrorist acts using extortion and target killings against innocent civilians and security forces.
It said that a sanitization effort was underway to get rid of any further terrorists that could be present. The ISPR reiterated the resolve of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicate the threat of terrorism from the nation.
