Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that Imran Khan’s removal from power was the product of a plot. Rafique is also audibly lauding Khan’s term, which ran from 2018 to 2022.
But a false narrative has been inserted into the film through manipulation.
Declare
A user on X (formerly Twitter) posted a 17-second video on April 23 along with a message stating that Rafique had called Khan’s 2022 resignation as president a “conspiracy.”
“Khan aimed to modernize Pakistan,” the user added. He promoted meritocracy and increased GDP in the nation. Nobody can be less than anybody. Saad Rafique: Imran Khan is a reality.
Additionally, a video purportedly showing Rafique saying similar things was released by the account.
Remarks along these lines were popular on Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
Reality
The speech that is doing the rounds on the internet was given by Rafique in 2022; it is not current. The way the video footage has been put together and edited gives the misleading appearance that Rafique is endorsing Imran Khan, the former prime minister.
Rafique’s original speech, in actuality, is critical of Khan’s leadership and makes analogies to the PML-N governments of 2013 and 2022.
According to a Google reverse image search, the film was first posted online on December 26, 2022. Rafique made the remark in Lahore at a function honoring his father’s death anniversary, according to news sources.
