The 48-year-old, who has won 15 major championships overall—three of them the US Open—does not automatically qualify now that his five-year exemption to the 2019 Masters has expired.
After sustaining serious leg injuries in an automobile accident in 2021, he has found it difficult to compete and has only participated in two competitions this year.
The most recent of those was at the Masters last month, where he made a record 24 consecutive cuts despite finishing 60th on 16 over.
Woods, who is currently ranked 789th in the world, stated, “The US Open, our national championship, is a truly special event for our game and one that has helped define my career.”
