In a startling turn of events, the Highway Police were attacked on Friday when two officers were injured and one officer was shot dead after car passengers opened fire on the staff at the Bedra Interchange in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the police, the incident happened during a disagreement over the Highway Police’s decision to issue a challan to a driver who was driving from Peshawar to Mansehra.
After the shots were fired, the surrounding regions were cordoned off and a search operation was started in order to apprehend any culprits, according to Mansehra District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Gandapur.
Aamir Khan Swati was named as the martyred official.
It should be mentioned that violent situations involving the Motorway Police have occurred in the past not too long ago.
On April 24, a woman lost her temper with traffic wardens after being detained for speeding and crashed her car into a motorway police officer.
She fought angrily with the Motorway Police officer after being stopped for speeding; the entire incident was captured on camera and shared on social media.
