The grieving spouse of Deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas M. “Tommy” Weeks, one of the four law enforcement officers slain in a gunfight at the Charlotte residence of a wanted suspect last week, spoke about her husband’s killer in front of hundreds of people, including U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, who attended his Monday memorial service.
“This tragedy was the result of someone who did not have any regard for human life,” Kelly Weeks stated in reference to Terry Clark Hughes Jr., the 39-year-old killer.
Following Weeks’ fatal shooting, Hughes passed away at the scene. Weeks was part of a USMS fugitive task group, as were Officers Sam Poloche and William “Alden” Elliott of the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC); from the second story of his Galway Drive residence, CMPD Officer Joshua Eyer.
