Pornhub’s parent company, Aylo, has expressed its support for new guidelines of good behavior for pornographic sites aimed at combatting child exploitation developed by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), a UK nonprofit.
The IWF is a critical component of the UK’s fight against online child sexual abuse material (CSAM), allowing individuals and organisations to report suspected online child abuse materials.
It believes that the announcement would encourage other pornographic websites to support the voluntary standards created in collaboration with Aylo over the course of 18 months.
But advocates have warned the news that the criteria will only be effective if they result in actual change.
Pornographic sites are supposed to take procedures such as checking that users are over 18, however this might be just asking users to declare.
Pornhub collaborates with a UK charity dedicated to combating child abuse.
