Inmates in Punjabi prisons have voiced their displeasure about Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), receiving preferential treatment at Adiala jail and have requested that they receive the same benefits.
The detainees demanded that all other prisoners be given “special amenities” similar to those granted to the PTI founder in a letter addressed to the inspector general of Punjab prisons.
The letter went on to say that giving Khan extra accommodations was a “blatant violation” of the 1978 Prison Rules.
Because he was a previous premier, the PTI founder has been imprisoned at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail in better-class (B-class) facilities with heightened security.
After leaving the Prime Minister’s Office in 2022, the cricketer-turned-politician has been involved in a number of cases, including the £190 million reference, the Toshakhana case, and others.
