A Kenyan mountaineer who went missing at the peak of Mount Everest has been discovered dead.
Joshua Cheruiyot Kirui, 40, and his Nepali guide Nawang Sherpa, 44, disappeared on Wednesday while attempting to summit Everest without supplemental oxygen.
The guide has yet to be found by the search team that was dispatched to find the couple, a local tourism official told the news.
Even expert climbers consider climbing Everest, the world’s highest peak, to be very difficult and perilous.
According to Nepalese newspaper The Himalayan Times, Mr. Sherpa informed the base camp that Kirui exhibited “abnormal behaviour” and had “refused to return and even consume bottled oxygen.”
