The port city’s residents are suffering from high temperatures and frequent power outages, and the city’s electrical provider is standing by its decision to reduce customer supply, so it appears that there won’t be any relief in sight.
Thursday’s high temperature in Karachi was 38.2°C, a blistering 2.4°C above usual, while the humidity reached 62%. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that the combination of these factors made it feel as oppressively hot as 40°C.
The residents were alerted to the fact that load shedding has been extended in certain locations, while even the exempted areas were experiencing protracted, unexpected power outages.
