Following King Charles III’s coronation, Saira Peter, a British-Pakistani Sufi Opera singer, recorded the British national hymn, “God Save the King.” For this, Buckingham Palace sent her a special letter of appreciation.
The King wrote Saira a letter expressing his best wishes and gratitude for her public duties after hearing the CD, which was played in soprano vocal range. He also included a signed photo card from Queen Camilla.
According to a news release, the tape was made at the request of the UK government offices located in Hastings Town Hall (East Sussex) and is utilized for official government events, such as citizenship ceremonies, around the region.
It comes after Saira’s rendition of “God Save the Queen,” which was captured in 2018 at the government’s request. Saira is the first Asian and the only Pakistani to receive this honor.
The late Queen also personally thanked them in a letter that followed that recording.
Saira Peter is a woman of many firsts: she is the first opera singer from Pakistan, the first Sufi opera singer in the world, and the first Asian to record the British national song. She also keeps making waves by elevating Pakistan’s profile on the international scene.
