The Pakistani cricket squad left London on Friday to play in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which is set to begin on June 1.
On June 6, Team Green will arrive in Dallas and play its first Group A encounter against the hosts, the United States.
The Pakistan Cricket Board announced the 15-player squad for the major cricket competition earlier this month. The competition will be held in the USA and the Caribbean from June 1–29.
Squad: Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Rizwan.
Among the fifteen players, Usman Khan, Azam Khan, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, and Abrar Ahmed have moved on.
The most recent tournament appearances for Imad Wasim and Muhammad Amir were in 2021 and 2016, respectively. The remaining eight players took part in the Australian competition in 2022.
When it comes to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan has one of the best records since it was first held in South Africa in 2007. It advanced to the finals twice, once under Younis Khan in 2009 and once under Shoaib Malik in 2007 and Babar Azam in 2022. In 2010, 2012, and 2021, it advanced to the final four.
