Just before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik came out in favor of the Pakistan Men’s Cricket squad following their 2-0 series loss against England.
Malik described the England series as difficult on the previous Twitter platform, but he also emphasized how the national team handled similar circumstances in the past.
“A challenging series! Recall that we have overcome adversity in the past and emerged stronger,” Shoaib wrote.
Then, he called right-handed batsman Babar Azam of Pakistan the “best option” for rotating the strike in the middle overs and advised the white-ball captain to bat at number three.
“In my view, Babar ought to bat in position three! Someone has to rotate in the middle overs.
In addition, the former captain supported young wicketkeeper-battler Azam Khan and all-rounder Shadab Khan, who have been having trouble finding their rhythm.
“You two are essential to our squad, Shadab and Azam. Play with passion and confidence, and you two will win the game. Keep your spirits up heading into the World Cup; we can win,” he said.
Significantly, Shoaib Malik made his remarks just after Pakistan lost seven wickets to England in the fourth Twenty20 International at Kennington Oval in London, falling short of them 2-0 in the series.
