Around 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, John Fairgrieve, 75, lost control of his silver Ford C-Max and crashed it on the A1 near the Newcraighall intersection.
After emergency personnel arrived, the senior was brought to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary, where he ultimately passed away.
His family released a statement via Police Scotland stating, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of a much-loved husband, father, and grandfather, even though we are grateful that no one else was injured in the incident.”
“We would like to give our thanks to all the emergency services for the care and support they provided and also to those that stopped to help at the scene.”
According to the police, investigations are still going on to determine all the details surrounding the single-vehicle crash.
“Our thoughts remain with John’s family and friends as they continue to try to come to terms with what has happened,” said Road Policing Sergeant Louise Birrell. We will assist them and provide them with updates as our inquiry develops.
“We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who came forward with information thus far and to the members of the public who stopped at that time to assist Mr. Fairgrieve.
