Key all-rounder Imad Wasim’s injury has hurt Pakistan’s national cricket squad, which is presently in the US for the T20 World Cup 2024. He will miss the team’s opening game.
Captain Babar Azam confirmed Wasim’s absence from the opening game, stating that the all-round player was ruled out with a side injury.
“Imad Wasim is suffering from a side strain, which means he won’t be able to play in our opening match,” Babar said.
The captain maintained hope that Wasim would play in the remaining games of the massive cricket competition, even in light of the setback.
“Although Imad won’t play the first game, we hope that he will be available for the rest of the matches,” he stated.
On June 6 (tomorrow), Pakistan will play the United States in their inaugural World Cup encounter.
In their opening T20 World Cup encounter, the US squad defeated Canada to start their campaign.
