The 21-year-old, who hasn’t played since falling in the first round of the Madrid Open in April, skipped the French Open in order to concentrate on her fitness.
On Tuesday, Raducanu, who underwent ankle and wrist surgery a year ago, takes on Ena Shibahara of Japan in the Nottingham first round.
“Physically and overall, I feel pretty well. Raducanu, who won the US Open later that year after playing her maiden WTA match in Nottingham, commented, “I feel really strong.”
“After surgery, I’ve worked incredibly hard with my trainer over the past few months. Right now, I feel incredibly fit.
My wrists seem to be in a better posture than they have ever been.
“So whether I’m hitting the ball or planning my schedule, there’s no question or fear. Being proactive and trying to avoid putting oneself in needless circumstances are more important.
In May of last year, Raducanu underwent surgery on her ankle and right wrist. Her left wrist underwent additional surgery after that.
She acknowledged that she had to “shut your body down” in order to walk around and that she had to use a mobility scooter.
