According to a South Yorkshire Police spokesman, Josh Greally, 28, has been charged with using “threatening, abusive, insulting words and behaviour with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence following an incident in Barnsley Town Centre yesterday”.
On Tuesday, as the leader of Reform UK was campaigning in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, from the upper deck of an open-top bus, objects were thrown at him.
As he was acknowledging the applause from the people below with his fist, Mr. Farage seemed to hit the side of the car.
The politician saw the thing hurtling in and lifted his arm, but it missed him.
The incident started last week when a woman in Clacton, Essex, the constituency Mr. Farage will be running for in the election, threw a milkshake over him.
Victoria Thomas Bowen, 25, faces charges related to the Clacton incident, including criminal damage and assault by beating.
It is thought that the Home Office is in talks with Mr. Farage to offer personal private security; this is an offer extended to all candidates. However, Mr. Farage will not receive additional police protection beyond being monitored by local authorities.
