SAHIWAL: According to News, an arrest warrant has been issued for former first lady Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Maneka and his son Musa Maneka by a special anti-corruption judge.
Details reveal that Asif Bashir, the special judge tasked with combating corruption, also gave the go-ahead for Khawar Maneka’s and his son’s arrest and court appearance.
Anti-corruption Okara filed a complaint against Maneka and his sons on August 11, 2023, about building a market after seizing the land.
According to the Anti-Corruption, the national coffers have lost millions of dollars as a result of the market construction.
The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) detained Khawar Farid Maneka, the former husband of Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president Imran Khan, on September 25, 2023, in Lahore on suspicion of unlawful construction.
A representative for ACE confirmed Maneka’s arrest, stating that he was detained on suspicion of building an unauthorized marriage hall on cemetery property.
Later, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) opened an investigation into the ex-husband of Bushra Bibi due to allegations of financial irregularities.
It is alleged that Khawar Maneka and his family received substantial financial benefits while the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was in power. The NAB has started gathering information on the assets that Khawar Maneka and his relatives possess.
