Scheffler is the one to beat whenever he appears.

Many commentators, supporters, and even players believe that Scottie Scheffler should lose this week's US Open, and it's understandable why.

With five victories in his last eight tournaments, including a second Masters title, the world number one is having the kind of strong start to the year that has led to comparisons with Tiger Woods.

Two-time major champion Jon Rahm commented, “You know you are in a level that is quite special when you start getting compared to Tiger.”

The 27-year-old American Scheffler was referred to as “undoubtedly the best in the world” by four-time major champion Rory McIlroy, who also said, “It seems like every time he shows up, he is the guy to beat.”

The 2020 US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau declared that Scheffler “is the gold standard,” while emerging Norwegian talent Viktor Hovland stated that Scheffler is “taking the level of consistency to a new level.”

“Scottie is doing incredible things,” remarked world number two and winner of the US PGA Championship last month, Xander Schauffele.

“We all attempt to undermine one another.”
We haven’t heard anything like this for a fellow player since the heyday of Tiger Woods.

Scheffler stated, “It’s nice to hear because I think we all try to bust each other up when we’re out there competing,” after learning of the accolades bestowed upon him by his colleagues.
