On the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) and member of the Communist Party’s Central Committee, is scheduled to visit Islamabad from June 20 to 22, 2024.
Liu will co-chair the Third Meeting of the Pakistan-China Joint Consultative Mechanism (JCM) of the Political Parties on CPEC with Dar when she is in town. He will also make a call to Pakistan’s top military and civil authorities.
The JCM of Political Parties on CPEC was founded in 2019 and serves as a regular platform for interaction between Pakistani political parties and the Communist Party of China. Previous sessions took place virtually on August 20, 2020, and in Beijing on March 19, 2019.
Pakistan and China will discuss the status of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, the project’s impact on Pakistan’s socio-economic growth, and the project’s expansion and improvement for regional connectivity during the Third Meeting of the JCM.
The visit is a part of high-level talks between Pakistan and China, which also include talks between Pakistan’s political parties and the Chinese Communist Party.
It highlights how crucial it is for the two nations to strengthen their “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership,” reiterate their support for one another on matters pertaining to their respective core interests, advance the CPEC’s high-quality development, and improve communication and discourse on significant regional and international developments.
