Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif authorized Operation “Azm-e-Istehkam” on Saturday, reviving and reviving the country’s counterterrorism campaign to intensify pressure on extremists aiming to harm Pakistan.
At a meeting of the Central Apex Committee on National Action Plan (NAP), this crucial decision was raised.
The Prime Minister Office (PMO) released an official statement stating that all parties involved, including the provinces, Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), agreed to approve the new counterterrorism campaign.
“The approval of the Operation Azm-e-Istehkam symbolises the national resolve to eradicate all forms of extremism and terrorism from the country,” said the press release.
Chief secretaries, chief ministers from all provinces and the United Kingdom, chief secretaries of services, and top personnel from the armed forces, civilian government, and law enforcement agencies attended the meeting.
In a comprehensive and decisive way, the PMO press release stated that “Operation Azm-e-Istehkam will integrate and synergize multiple lines of effort to combat the menaces of extremism and terrorism.”
The prime minister emphasized at the discussion that Operation Azm-e-Istahkam would be vital in battling the nation’s terrorist threats. “Diplomatic efforts will be intensified to root out terrorist organisations,” the Prime Minister stated.
The forum promised not to allow anyone to question the authority of the state and reaffirmed that Pakistan is leading the battle against extremism and terrorism.
