LAHORE: The News stated that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has been nominated by the party to run for prime minister in the forthcoming general elections on February 8.

The Central Executive Committee (CEC), the PPP’s highest decision-making body, made the choice during a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the party’s campaign for the next general election at Bilawal House in Lahore.

In addition, Bilawal is running from NA-127 Lahore, where he will face off against a candidate supported by the PTI and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shaista Pervaiz Malik.

The party election manifesto was also considered during the CEC meeting, where it was determined to prioritize jobs, health, education, and the empowerment of women and youth.

Additionally, it conveyed total faith in Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s leadership.

Leaders of the PPP in attendance were Secretary General Taj Haider, Syed Khursheed Shah, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Murad Ali Shah, Chaudhry Aslam Gill, and Ali Badr.

Afterwards, in an interview with the media, Bilawal declared that, like it or not, he had made the decision to run for office from Lahore.

With former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and PPP secretary general Taj Haider standing by his sides, Bilawal declared, “Gen Zia imposed the PML-N on us and Gen Faiz Hameed imposed the PTI.”

He claimed that the PTI and the PML-N both represented the ruling class. Neither was able to deal with the problems facing the nation. According to him, only the PPP prioritized people and consistently developed its vision and program prior to elections.

He claimed that the PPP planned to build energy parks with free electricity for up to 300 units in each district headquarters.

He also pledged to provide everyone with free, high-quality education once the government was formed. He declared that the BISP network will grow and that staff compensation would increase by 200%.

Thanking the PPP CEC for putting him forward as a prime minister candidate, Bilawal expressed gratitude.

He denounced the acts of terrorism in the nation and stated that important choices would need to be made in order to keep the nation out of difficulties.
