Unexpectedly, Omar Ayub Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said that he had resigned as the party’s secretary-general “to focus on my role as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan.”
He posted on his official X feed on Thursday, saying, “I am most grateful to [former] PM Imran Khan sahib for accepting my resignation as Secretary General PTI to focus on my role as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan.”
In a letter to the PTI’s chairman, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan sahib, and imprisoned founder Imran Khan, Ayub announced his resignation on June 22, 2024.
“My message was delivered to the Senate’s Leader of the Opposition, Senator Shibli Faraz Shahib.”

According to the NA opposition leader, the PTI’s organizational structure would undergo additional modifications in the next few days in accordance with the founder of the party’s wishes.
